2. Subscribing to the Colour me autistic newsletter

If you choose to subscribe to the Colour me autistic newsletter using the form on the website, you will be asked for your email address and your first name. Providing your first name is optional.

We will use your email address in order to send you the newsletter, and your first name (if provided) to address you by name in the newsletter.

Your data will not be shared with anyone else. Your data will be stored until you request that we delete it, or until the website ceases to exist, whichever is sooner.

When you sign up for the newsletter, your email address (and first name, if provided) are collected and stored securely within the Wix platform used to host www.colourmeautistic.com. Here is their Privacy Policy. These details are automatically added to a password protected Google Sheet so they can be accurately added to Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), which is the service used to send the newsletter itself. Here is the Brevo GDPR information and Google Cloud GDPR information. We are looking to simplify this process in future and run everything just through Wix. We will notify all users when this happens and delete all data from any other platform at that point.

As per GDPR, you have the following rights regarding any personal data you share:

  • The right to access, view, and edit your own information

  • The right to be forgotten, i.e. for data to be deleted

  • The right to be able to opt out from future messages, i.e. by clicking “unsubscribe” at the bottom of any newsletter

3. Colour me autistic surveys

We occasionally collect additional data via surveys, if you choose to take part. No participation or data is required from you in order to access the content on www.colourmeautistic.com

Links to these surveys will appear in the newsletter, and may also be shared on social media or on www.colourmeautistic.com.

These fall into two main categories, though this list may not be exhaustive:

  1. Surveys to collect details from people who want to volunteer to share useful information or share their skills. If you choose to include your email address in this type of survey, we may contact you in relation to the information you have shared.

  2. Research surveys to find out your experiences of autism so that we can help readers better understand people’s collective experiences of autism. We will achieve this by sharing summarised, completely anonymised survey findings on the website www.colourmeautistic.com. These surveys do not ask you for any identifiable information, they are entirely anonymous unless you choose to identify yourself within your responses.

Your data will not be shared with anyone else. Your data will be stored until you request that we delete it (in the case of personally identifiable data), or until the website ceases to exist, whichever is sooner.

Surveys will be run via Google Forms and the results will be stored in a secure, password-protected Google Drive.

As per GDPR, you have the following rights regarding any personal data you share:

  • The right to access, view, and edit your own information

  • The right to be forgotten, i.e. for data to be deleted

  • The right to be able to opt out from future messages, i.e. to ask not to receive any further emails
